Empties-January 2013

So...you're probably wondering where I have been, huh? I ended up getting pretty busy, I went on a trip and started school again, so I am still getting into the swing of things. So to start off my return, and the month of February...here is an empties post! Enjoy! :)

1. Lush Tea Tree Water:
  • I got this as a sample from the associate at Lush, which included 4 cotton pads.
  • To me, this smells a lot like The Body Shop's Tea Tree skin clearing facial wash, which I am not particularly fond of (the smell).
  • It felt quite nice and was soothing, however I did not feel like it did anything special when compared to what I normally use (currently using The Body Shop's Seaweed Clarifying Toner for Combination/Oily Skin).
  • And it is $10 for 3.3 fl. oz, or $21.95 for 8.4 fl. oz; so it's a little on the expensive side (even though The Body Shop's isn't that much cheaper), so I will not be purchasing this toner.

2. Bath and Body Works Carried Away Body Mist-3 fl. oz.
  • I love the smell of this, it's light, clean, simple, and the "standard" perfume smell but not in any way old lady-ish.
  • Good for days that I don't know what other fragrance I want to wear.
  • I will repurchase, but not right away as I have other body mists and perfume to use. I will also reuse the bottle because it is perfect for travel.
3. Oral -B Complete Glide + Scope Outlast
  • Refreshing, gets the job done
  • I prefer it to regular floss-less hassle
  • I will repurchase this (I am currently using another bag haha)
4. Crest Complete With Scope Outlast
  • I am not too picky when it comes to toothpaste, as long as it does what it is supposed to. However I do prefer something that has whitening in it (this one has).
  • Tastes good
*Please let me know if you would like me to leave oral health products out of these posts. (Cause I know it's a little boring hahaha).*
5. Swisspers 100% Cotton Rounds (100 count)
  • It gets the job done, soft, and cheap.
  • However, sometimes you get little bits of cotton on face, but the round itself does not fall apart completely.
  • Even though you can get the little bit of the pad on your face, it doesn't bother me. Therefore I will be repurchasing (I honestly just don't see a need for spending a lot of money on something like this).
6. Great value Distilled White Vinegar
  • Now, you may be asking me why I have distilled vinegar in here, right?
  • I use this to put in my hair after I have washed and conditioned it. It is supposed to make your hair soft and shiny (I usually use this everytime I wash my hair), and I do think this works! :)
7. Ardell Fashion Lashes Starter Kit (101 Demi)
  • At first I hated these lashes, because it was my first time using them and I did use the glue it came with. I couldn't put them on because it literally took me 2 hours. So, I do not recommend using the glue, because no matter how many times I tried to clean them the glue sticks to the band of the lashes (I am pretty sure companies do this so that you have to throw the lashes away and buy a new pair).
  • I finally caved in and bought the Revlon lash adhesive to see if it would make a difference, and it did! (Granted I cut them in half and applied them too) But overall it was so much easier to put on my eyes (I saved as much of the lash as I could so you could have an idea of what they look like, but it was a full band).
  • I would repurchase, but I wouldn't get the starter kit...just buy the lash glue. I have accumulated a couple other pairs of lashes so I will hold off on buying more, since I don't have many occasions to wear fake lashes to.
8. Summer Flowers-Peony and Freesia Body Butter (6.8 fl. oz)
  • I really liked this body butter, it keeps my body soft and smooth.
  • The scent is very faint, which I like because it doesn't linger and I am not too big of a fan of the smell anyway.
  • $1 at Target---you can't beat that! Only downside is that you cannot always find these. They are in the dollar section of Target during certain seasons. I also reuse the container, so at $1 you can't complain!

****Disclaimer: I am in no way trying to brag, just sharing my thoughts with you on products I have tried and used up. I bought everything myself and all opinions are my own. ****

Thank you for reading,
Jessica :D

NOTD: Holiday Inspired Nails :)

I have been doing my nails a lot lately and especially getting into nail art. So I recreated this nail design from robinmosesnailart tutorial. This design was actually pretty simple, although it turned out a little rough. Practice makes perfect as they always say!

What I used:
-Nail art brush (you can use a toothpick, dotting tool)
-4 Red Rhinestones (mine were from a nail wheel, 2 for each ring finger)
-Pink nail polish: OPI- Princesses Rule! (one of my most favorite pinks that I own :D)
-White nail polish: Pure Ice- Superstar!
-Green nail polish: Nail Fantasies- Twist and Shout
-Base/Top Coat: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails-Clear

Hope you enjoy, and let me know if you give this nail art a try!

OOTD and FOTD: Silver and Gold

This was what I wore yesterday to school. It is very wearable and neutral. Hence the term "naked" from the Naked 2 palette I used haha. I don't use this palette very often because of the cool tones (I like the original Naked palette way better), so I decided to open it back up from my collection so I can try to fall in love with it again.

Face:
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer (undereyes) in Light
Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer
MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NW30
ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzer Duo-I used both the blush and the bronzer
Urban Decay De Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray

Eyes: *warning* A LOT of fallout
Urban Decay Primer Potion-Original
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette-Half Baked (All over lid), Suspect (crease), YDK (crease/definer in outer corner), Bootycall (inner corner and browbone)
Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner-Whiskey
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara

Tank Top: Aeropostale
T-Shirt: Old Navy
Jeans: Aeropostale
Boots: Kohl's

I love this look, and I hope you do too!

FOTD: Purple Lipstick

I have had this purple lipstick in my collection for a little while, never wore it out in public, so I thought I would give it a shot. I normally don't wear lipstick that often and when I do I feel a little out of place. But I rock it anyways ;)

Face:
Revlon Colorstay Whipped in 330 True Beige
Garnier Anti-Dark Circle Roller (tinted one)
Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer
ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Duo (bronzer side)
Nars Sin (been loving this a lot!)

Eyes:
Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in French Fries
Mark i-mark Metallics Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Truffle
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner Pencil in Whiskey
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara

Lips:
NYX Diamond Sparkle Lipstick in Sparkling Orchid

It's a little blurry but I thought it was cute because my dog is in the picture posing with me.

Cardigan: Ross I think (birthday present from my parents)
Purple Tank top: Aeropostale
Purple shirt: Kohl's
Jeans: Outlet mall (I can't remember which store I bought them from)
Boots: Kohl's

I love this outfit, especially for this time of the year. The weather has been crazy here lately. One day its cold, the next day its warm and you don't need a heavy jacket.

I also love the makeup...perfect for fall. So crack open your purple lipsticks, folks! :)

NOTD: Revlon Autumn Berry

I normally don't wear this type of color often, and I think this is a really nice shade for fall. I did a little hack job on my nails hence why they are short, but I still think this nail polish looks nice and very wearable.

As usual, I used the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Clear Nailpolish as my base and top coat. In between the two layers, is Revlon's Autumn Berry.

I also really like the formula of this nail polish...it lasted me 5 days! This is an older bottle my grandma gave me, so I am unsure if the formula has changed. Either way, I think I need to try more Revlon nail polishes!
