NOTD: Holiday Inspired Nails :)

I have been doing my nails a lot lately and especially getting into nail art. So I recreated this nail design from robinmosesnailart tutorial. This design was actually pretty simple, although it turned out a little rough. Practice makes perfect as they always say!

What I used:
-Nail art brush (you can use a toothpick, dotting tool)
-4 Red Rhinestones (mine were from a nail wheel, 2 for each ring finger)
-Pink nail polish: OPI- Princesses Rule! (one of my most favorite pinks that I own :D)
-White nail polish: Pure Ice- Superstar!
-Green nail polish: Nail Fantasies- Twist and Shout
-Base/Top Coat: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails-Clear

Hope you enjoy, and let me know if you give this nail art a try!

OOTD and FOTD: Silver and Gold

This was what I wore yesterday to school. It is very wearable and neutral. Hence the term "naked" from the Naked 2 palette I used haha. I don't use this palette very often because of the cool tones (I like the original Naked palette way better), so I decided to open it back up from my collection so I can try to fall in love with it again.

Face:
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer (undereyes) in Light
Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer
MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NW30
ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzer Duo-I used both the blush and the bronzer
Urban Decay De Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray

Eyes: *warning* A LOT of fallout
Urban Decay Primer Potion-Original
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette-Half Baked (All over lid), Suspect (crease), YDK (crease/definer in outer corner), Bootycall (inner corner and browbone)
Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner-Whiskey
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara

Tank Top: Aeropostale
T-Shirt: Old Navy
Jeans: Aeropostale
Boots: Kohl's

I love this look, and I hope you do too!

FOTD: Purple Lipstick

I have had this purple lipstick in my collection for a little while, never wore it out in public, so I thought I would give it a shot. I normally don't wear lipstick that often and when I do I feel a little out of place. But I rock it anyways ;)

Face:
Revlon Colorstay Whipped in 330 True Beige
Garnier Anti-Dark Circle Roller (tinted one)
Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer
ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Duo (bronzer side)
Nars Sin (been loving this a lot!)

Eyes:
Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in French Fries
Mark i-mark Metallics Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Truffle
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner Pencil in Whiskey
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara

Lips:
NYX Diamond Sparkle Lipstick in Sparkling Orchid

It's a little blurry but I thought it was cute because my dog is in the picture posing with me.

Cardigan: Ross I think (birthday present from my parents)
Purple Tank top: Aeropostale
Purple shirt: Kohl's
Jeans: Outlet mall (I can't remember which store I bought them from)
Boots: Kohl's

I love this outfit, especially for this time of the year. The weather has been crazy here lately. One day its cold, the next day its warm and you don't need a heavy jacket.

I also love the makeup...perfect for fall. So crack open your purple lipsticks, folks! :)

NOTD: Revlon Autumn Berry

I normally don't wear this type of color often, and I think this is a really nice shade for fall. I did a little hack job on my nails hence why they are short, but I still think this nail polish looks nice and very wearable.

As usual, I used the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Clear Nailpolish as my base and top coat. In between the two layers, is Revlon's Autumn Berry.

I also really like the formula of this nail polish...it lasted me 5 days! This is an older bottle my grandma gave me, so I am unsure if the formula has changed. Either way, I think I need to try more Revlon nail polishes!

Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash

This is what it looks like on my face.

And the results after using it...

I got a sample of this from Sephora. This package seems small, but you don't need that much so it will last at least 3-4 times if not more. Of course initially it made my face red because it is an exfoliator. But it DID make my face overall smoother, like any exfoliator should. I don't use this everyday because I have my own cleanser to use. But if you are interested in this, I would recommend getting a sample of it before you shell out the $25.00 for 8oz. I personally would not buy the full size, as I am sure there are plenty of cheaper alternatives out there to try. I would recommend this for sensitive skin because it is very gentle, and gets the job done. One thing I don't like about this is the smell.

Freeman's Facial Enzyme Mask Review

This mask claims to gently exfoliate your skin, lightly moisturize to leave skin soft and younger-looking.
As you can see from the photo, my skin is red with a few recent acne/scarring areas.

This mask is a yellowish/clear color and smells like Pineapples (hence the name!) I really like the scent of it.

What I don't like about it? It itched like crazy! I have never tried a mask like this (always ones that help with acne) so I am unsure if this is normal. But because it itched so much, I probably will not repurchase it.
Right after I washed this off of my face, you can see that my face is still just as red as before. But my face looked brighter and was super smooth! I probably didn't need moisturizer afterwards, but I applied it anyways (I have super oily skin).

This picture is with the flash.

I forgot to take a picture of my skin the next day, but it definitely looked brighter and less red. I can't really tell you if it made my skin look younger, because I am young myself. So I probably am not the best candidate for that.

Overall I think this is a great mask if you can get over the itchiness. I still have some left in that package that I will use...but as I mentioned I won't repurchase.

You can get this mask in this "sample" packet at Walmart. You can't buy the full size there unfortunately. If this is something you would like in a mask I say go for it! The small packages are great because you can test them out like I did. I bought a few of the other ones, which I liked and will probably do a review once I buy the full sizes.

NOTD: A Whimsical Sky

I bought Revlon Whimsical a while back and had tried it on my nails, and realized it wasn't opaque enough...so I finally gave in and bought a lighter blue to layer underneath it. I love it!

I first used my Sally Hansen clear nail polish as my base coat. Then I painted my nails with 2 coats of Hard Candy Sky. Next I layered 2 coats of Revlon Whimsical. No top coat.

I think it is just perfect!

One thing I will mention about Sky is that it doesn't apply very evenly. If I were to wear it on it's own, I would definitely apply 3 coats.

Review and Demo: Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

This is my face before I used the mask. Hopefully you will be able to tell a difference in the pictures.

This is my face while the mask was wet:

This is my face as the mask has dried...you can see some cracks from moving my face a little bit.

This is my skin after using the mask, using toner, and moisturizing my face.

I do not think you can see a difference right away, however the mask did reduce the redness on my face. I also felt that I could see a better difference the next day.

So, this mask claims to: help dry up acne pimples, rinse away blackheads & shrink enlarged pores.

Overall, I think this is a great mask, even if you don't have problem areas...masks are just a great way to relax and have a little "me" time. :) As for me, I do have problem areas such as redness, and some pimples. As I mentioned in this post that I did not notice much difference right away, other than the reduction in redness, but I saw a bigger difference the next day. My pimples were smaller and beginning to go away. Not sure that the mask gets rid of blackheads, because the day after I used the mask, they were back. To me they are practically microscopic anyway, so it doesn't really bother me. I do like the mask, the way it feels on my skin both before and after, and the smell. I will say I wish the packaging was better however. I like the squeeze tube, but with this particular formula, it makes it hard to squeeze out because the product is super thick. Also the formula can be difficult to spread evenly across your face. Other than that, great mask. And yes, I would recommend this (especially if you have oily skin!).

If you guys like this kind of post/review, let me know so I can do more! :)

FOTD: It's Starting to Feel Like Fall!

Face:

  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles in Light (I need to use the powder or foundation over it because it is too light for me)
  • Mac Studio Fix Powder Foundation in NW30
  • Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer in Light 4-5 (discontinued unfortunately)
  • E.L.F Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder (just the bronzer)
  • Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in Rose
  • Hard Candy Bronzer in Tiki (used as highlight)

Eyes:

  • Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer
  • Avon Big Color Eye Pencil in Angel (shimmery pink base)
  • L'oreal HIP Pigment in Fiery (124), all over lid
  • NYX Eyeshadow in Taupe, crease
  • L'oreal Lineur Intense Liquid Eyeliner (felt tip)
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Midnight Cowboy, lower waterline
  • Covergirl Lash Blast Volume (orange tube)
I don't think I forgot anything, but most of these products are still available. I think this is a very wearable way to wear color, and I am very happy that I am using things I don't normally reach for in my collection. Also the fact that I am wearing more color eyeshadows instead of neutrals all the time!

Hope you enjoy,
Jessica

NOTD: OPI Into the Night + Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat

Basecoat/Topcoat: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Clear

After the basecoat, I painted with 3 coats of OPI's Into the Night (from the Spiderman Collection in spring I believe, I have the mini bottle) and Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat in Antiqued Gold (06) over top on the pinky and thumb nails.

I was actually surprised at how sheer this beautiful blue color went on within the first coat. I normally do only 2 coats of polish followed by a clear topcoat. I usually do not like doing 3 coats because I feel like my nail polish chips quicker the more layers I apply. Definitely glad I have a smaller bottle of this (especially when I originally wanted the full size, haha!).

I don't believe you can get this nail polish anymore, although I will say to look for the set of 4 from the Spiderman Collection at ULTA if you are interested and don't already have it. I know every time I go back they still have some. Also look out when ULTA does their discount of products that are "older" (jumbled about in the clearance stands, and even currently in the clearance section that is always on display).

Although I was slightly disappointed with the application, this makes for a very lovely manicure.

FOTD: E.L.F Evil Queen Palette + Mini-Review

Not sure which picture has the best lighting, but as you can tell these were all taken outside.
Face:
Foundation: Revlon Colorstay Whipped in 330 True Beige
Concealer: Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark-Circle-Roller (undereye, the one that has the tint)
Blush: NARS Sin

Eyes:
E.L.F eyelid primer (comes with the palette)
Avon Big Color Eye Pencil in Antique Lilac (base)
Narcissistic all over the lid
Vanity in crease (very little color pay off)
Potion in outer corner/crease
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on eye pencil in Crash (lower waterline)
Maybelline The Falsies in Brownish Black

This is what the palette looks like: it comes with lashes, 8 eyeshadows (4 day, 4 night shades), Two lip/cheek color pencils, liquid eyeliner, and e.l.f eye primer. Very good value for your money!
Here are the eye shadows used up close:
From what I used from this palette today (first time using it), I really like it. The colors I used were nicely pigmented (narcissistic needed a base) with the exception of vanity. I did not use one bite (first shade). This is my first time using the e.l.f. eye primer as well. For first time use it was all good. The eye primer creased probably about 6-7 hours later, but so far I have not found an eye primer that works for my oily eyelids (does not crease at all after that amount of time). Overall I think this is a great palette to start, or in my case, a great Disney Collector's item (although I will continue to use the palettes!)! Definitely a great value, as I already mentioned.

Future ideas:
-Further in depth reviews of all three limited edition palettes from e.l.f.
-Review comparing all my eye primers I have tried.
